Course Description:

Thinkwell Algebra 1 offers comprehensive coverage of foundational concepts in Algebra, emphasizing the comprehension and extension of skills introduced in earlier math courses. Topics include expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, data analysis, and probability. The course features approximately 19 hours of video lectures, along with interactive exercises and assessments.

Grading Breakdown:

• Quizzes: 40%
• Tests: 40%
• Midterm Exam: 10%
• Final Exam: 10%

Course Schedule:

The course is structured over a 32-week school year. Below is an outline of the units covered:
Weeks 1-4:

• Unit 1: The Language of Algebra and Tools of Algebra

Weeks 5-8:

• Unit 2: Solving Equations and Proportion & Percent

Weeks 9-11:

• Unit 3: Introduction to Inequalities and Multi-Step & Compound Inequalities

Weeks 12-14:

• Unit 4: Introduction to Functions and Applying Functions

Weeks 15-18:

• Unit 5: Characteristics of Linear Functions and Using Linear Functions
• Midterm Exam (Covering Units 1-5)

Weeks 19-21:

• Unit 6: Systems of Linear Equations and Linear Inequalities

Weeks 22-25:

• Unit 7: Exponents and Polynomials

Weeks 26-28:

• Unit 8: Factoring Methods and Applying Factoring Methods

Classroom Expectations:

1. Attendance: Students must sign in within 5 minutes before class begins using their first and last name.
2. Participation: Video must be on, showing your entire face. Use the chatbox for questions unless called upon to unmute.
3. Preparation: Be seated at a table or desk with a pen/pencil and notebook ready.
4. Engagement: Active participation is encouraged. Homework must be completed on time before the next class to stay on pace.
