Maricela graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara receiving a B.S. in Mathematical Sciences with an emphasis in Operations Research. She worked for International Business Machines (IBM) as a Systems Performance Analyst in their Federal Sector Division based in Silicon Valley, serving the Air Force’s Satellite & Space Shuttle programs. She homeschooled her three children from K-12 and began teaching math classes when Maricela’s oldest daughter and her homeschooled friends needed a strong Pre-Algebra course. She has taught math and science classes since 2009 and has privately tutored numerous students in junior high, high school and college level mathematics. She is experienced in leading private tutorials in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Physics.
She is passionate about sharing her wonder of math and its vivid life applications while demonstrating its reflection of God’s amazing sense of order in our world and beyond. Maricela creates a positive environment where her students learn to present their solutions and clearly communicate their ideas and strategies. She feels privileged to have the opportunity to invest in her students’ math journeys, awakening within them a passion for excellence and an attitude of taking on challenges with an undaunted spirit.
