US History

Mon 12:30pm-1:55pm

Class Description

This class will be the equivalent of a traditional United States History survey course students would find in a local private or public school.  The course will begin in the precolonial days of the 1400's and 1500's and go through the present day.  We will use a traditional chronological textbook as the foundation and explore many outside resources both primary and secondary to expand our understanding beyond the traditional book approach.  Students will engage in deep critical thinking and Socratic discussion with a Christ centered approach as the mainstay of in class time.  It is therefore imperative, for the students to benefit the most from class time, that they complete their reading, discussion questions, film study, or any outside work prior to class. Students will also have the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively on meaningful tasks.  They will engage in persuasive writing and 1-2 group projects.
